The top lid does not seal to the grinder base so liquid escapes unless very little used. That liquid, leaking onto the base, is what casued the electrical problem which gave me nasty shock. I have bought a mini sized nutribullet for the wet grinds - seems OK and that plus a Krup grinder are cheaper than the Cuisinart.
